NEW YORK, 11th<\/sup> March, 2024\u2026<\/strong>Minister of State within the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation and the Environment, Senator, the Hon. Samantha Marshall is currently in New York representing Antigua and Barbuda at the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women Conference, at the United Nations.<\/p>\n

The CSW meeting is the UN\u2019s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women\u2019s empowerment and brings together world leaders, ministers, international development agencies and non-governmental organisations to agree on actions and investments that will bolster gender equality policy and programming standards, globally.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Minister Marshall will make formal remarks on behalf of Antigua and Barbuda, centered around the theme for CSW this year, which is “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Earlier today Minister Marshall engaged in Bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of St. Maarten, Her Excellency Silveria Jacobs, Prime Minister of Aruba Her Excellency Evelyn Wever-Croes, and Deputy Prime Minister of Cura\u00e7ao Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia. The three Caribbean countries are autonomous territories within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.<\/p>\n

On Minister Marshall\u2019s agenda on Tuesday is a Ministerial breakfast meeting for Latin American and Caribbean Ministers at the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations.<\/p>

Minister Marshall will also be a featured speaker at a major high-level event being put on by UN Women at their Headquarters, that will look at Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Resilience and Gender Equality.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she will attend an event convened by the Organisation of American States (OAS), which will focus on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).<\/p>
