Officials are hopeful that LIAT 2020 will resume flights in less than a month. Ambassador Daven Joseph, the Interim Chairman, stated that the airline is expected to be fully operational, starting with the six aircraft they plan to deploy.<\/p>

The government has arranged to purchase three aircraft from LIAT 1974 Limited through the Caribbean Development Bank for $US 12.1 million. The signing of the agreement is imminent, with Antigua and Barbuda set to deposit $US 4.1 million to acquire the first aircraft.<\/p>\n

Joseph expressed hope that the acquisition of the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) and the aircraft will be completed within the next two to three weeks. The government is also collaborating with Nigeria\u2019s Air Peace to launch LIAT 2020, aiming to operate with six aircraft, with potential plans for fleet expansion.<\/p>
