According to Thomas,\u00a0while he \u2013 Thomas \u2013 was attempting to stop
\nthe violence among rival gangs in the area, Browne had no part to
\nplay, despite what he is now suggesting.<\/p>\n

In order to address the youth violence, Thomas recalls that he \u2013
\nalong with Khalid Shabazz, Kublai James, Kublai Mannix, and Luther<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Lee \u2013 organized a session in which they had all the gangs come
\ntogether to share their grievances.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This session was held at the old Point School (which was recently
\ndestroyed by fire), Thomas says, with about 200 gang members,
\nrepresenting 25 gangs, in attendance.<\/p>\n

According to Thomas, then Commissioner of Police Rawlston
\nPompey was surprised that the group had been able to get so many
\nrival gangs into one sitting.<\/p>

Thomas says the young people, at the time, were concerned about
\nfinding work and becoming independent in honest businesses. And
\nwhat they required, he recollects, was help to get started.<\/p>\n

Thomas insists that Browne was not present during this gathering.<\/p>

However, he continues, the authorities promised to get the young
\npeople land for farming in the Dunbars area. But, Thomas says, the
\npromise was not kept.<\/p>
