Dr. Cleon Athill, former United Progressive Party (UPP) Caretaker for the St. Paul\u2019s constituency, has resigned, citing issues within the party.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Dr. Athill clarified that despite her passion for the country and its people, she has no intention of joining the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party or running as an Independent Candidate, indicating that she currently has no desire to pursue a political career.<\/p>\n

She revealed in her resignation letter that her political approach, which focused on engaging with constituents on important issues rather than distributing gifts, was not accepted by the UPP.<\/p>

Dr. Athill stated, “The Athill campaign was a positive campaign, it was a different campaign and I think that kind of made many people uneasy because we are so accustomed to the transactional politics.”<\/p>

She further disclosed during an interview with Twin Island Media that her refusal to engage in “transactional politics” made her a target within the party, leading to a change in how she was treated.<\/p>\n
