Dear Editor,<\/p>

Sometimes, some managers & others who are in an authoritative position, allow their heads to become inflated with power, and so,\u00a0 the divine component of humility & empathy tends to be swept out of the window thus causing their subordinates to get treated with disdain.<\/p>\n

As a manager myself & at the same time a strong believer in Christ, I have made pledge to speak out against any form of injustice especially on my job site whenever I see it fitting to do so.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Throughout my career as a manager, I must confess, that I have seen several injustices meted out to some employees, due to some unethical & unscrupulous practices among my peers, in the way how they go about hiring & promoting persons up the corporate ladder…..<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Such practices have forced me to ask the question…\u00a0 is the ” knee in the neck ” syndrome prevalent in the workplace of today?<\/p>\n

Of course, sometime ago,\u00a0 we all heard about Mr. George Floyd, an Afro-american male, who was on his way pursuing his own ambition, met his untimely death by having a knee placed in his neck from someone who was considered to be in authority. Instantly, Mr. Floyd’s life was cut short.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Interestingly, it is my view, that the same “knee in the neck” syndrome exists in many of our work places of today.. Similar to Mr. Floyd, many employees in various establishments, have experienced the knee in neck syndrome, causing their ambition of climbing the corporate ladder to cut short.<\/p>\n

Be it as it may, it is very unfortunate that some persons become a victim of discrimination or nepotism and hence, they are overlooked or get pushed to the back of the bus or even have the corporate ladder pulled from under them, inspite of the hard work & dedication they put into the\u00a0 organization.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Regardless of whoever the employee is, the play field should be level for all.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Each employee should be looked at in a impartial manner & should be treated equal and be given utmost respect from those in authority.\u00a0 What goes for Peter … should also go for Paul.<\/p>\n

I will agree that as managers, many of us may have a different style of managing, however, we should not allow our position & arrogance to supercede professionalism, fairness, empathy and transparency whenever we are making decisions to impact upon our employee’s future.<\/p>\n

It is extremely unscrupulous & dangerous to allow nepotism & cronyism to fester as a disease in the workplace. Many times, I have seen\u00a0 square pegs been placed into round holes which translate into persons not having the proper work ethics or decorum, along with not being qualified for the job.<\/p>\n

Such epidemic creates stagnation & low staff moral and hence impacts negatively on the production of work thus inhibiting the organization from going forward.<\/p>\n

NEPOTISM IS WRONG. MAY THE GOOD LORD HAVE MERCY ON THOSE WHO ENDORSES IT!<\/p>\n
