The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has announced the appointment of Davin Joseph as the new Chairman of LIAT (2020) Ltd.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made yesterday by Melford Nicholas, during the post-cabinet news conference.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Ambassador Davin Joseph, who was retained by the government to facilitate the transition from LIAT (1974) to LIAT (2020), has been instrumental in the negotiations with Air Peace and in bringing LIAT (2020) into operation.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He will likely remain as the interim chairman for the next 60 days, pending the completion of financial and shareholder arrangements.<\/p>\n

During a recent Cabinet meeting, Joseph sought support for the use of Government\u2019s property formerly occupied by LIAT (1974) Ltd. The aim is to provide LIAT (2020) Ltd. with a hangar and other spaces to ensure the security of the airplanes it is seeking to acquire.<\/p>

Joseph’s focus is on implementing measures for the seamless transition of LIAT (1974) Ltd., which has been declared bankrupt, to LIAT (2020) Ltd., a new entity.<\/p>\n

The government, being a minority shareholder, is likely to cede the chairman position to its senior partner in Air Peace once the financial and shareholder arrangements are finalized.<\/p>
