The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) has announced that the activities at the Kick ’em Jenny submarine volcano have ceased and returned to normal.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This update follows information received from the Seismic Research Centre (SRC) at the University of the West Indies.<\/p>\n

Since Sunday, February 11, 2024, the volcanic activities have ceased, and the seismic activity at the volcano has returned to normal levels.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Despite this positive development, the alert level at Kick ’em Jenny remains at YELLOW.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Therefore, an exclusion zone of 1.5 km from the summit of the volcano is still in effect and should be strictly observed.<\/p>\n

Currently, there are four seismic stations monitoring Kick ’em Jenny in the area of Grenada.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

It is worth noting that in 2018, there was a period of high-level seismicity at the volcano that was not followed by an eruption.<\/p>\n

Similarly, another period of heightened seismic activity occurred from April 11 to June 5, 2020, which also did not result in eruptive activity.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Earthquakes associated with Kick ’em Jenny volcanic activity are often felt in northern Grenada, the Grenadines, and at distances up to 400 km from the volcano.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Despite the cessation of activities and the return to normal, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of the public.<\/p>\n

For further updates and information, the public is advised to stay tuned to official channels and adhere to all safety instructions issued by NEMO and the SRC.<\/p>\n
