NaDMA Press Release: Increased Seismic Activity at Kick’-em-Jenny Submarine Volcano<\/p>

St. George’s, Grenada – Saturday, February 10th, 2024, 8:00 p.m.: The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Center (UWI SC) has notified the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) regarding heightened seismic activity at the Kick’-em-Jenny Submarine Volcano. This activity commenced at 23:14 on Friday, February 9th, 2024, and is currently ongoing. The largest seismic event, measuring 3.3, occurred on February 10th, with reports indicating perceptible tremors in the northern region of Grenada. Monitoring efforts by the UWI SC continue, with four fully operational seismic stations in northern Grenada dedicated to observing Kick’-em-Jenny.<\/p>\n

In accordance with information from the UWI SC, the alert level for Kick’-em-Jenny remains at YELLOW. This designation signifies that all maritime operations should uphold a 1.5 km exclusion zone around the volcano. NaDMA will persist in monitoring the situation and issuing updates.<\/p>
