Investigation into Death of Lateefa George at Mental Hospital Still Ongoing, Says Health Minister<\/strong><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph provided an update regarding the tragic death of Lateefa George, a female patient at a mental hospital in Antigua last year, it was revealed that the investigation is still ongoing.<\/p>\n

During his statement, Minister Joseph expressed his concerns over the length of time it has taken for the coroner’s report to be completed.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He emphasized that while he had anticipated a swifter resolution, he remains unable to interfere with the coroner’s process.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Minister Joseph acknowledged the distress experienced by the family of Lateefa George, stating that he intends to address the matter during a Cabinet meeting.<\/p>\n

He plans to seek an audience with the Attorney General to gain clarity on the status of the investigation and provide the family with the explanation they deserve.<\/p>

“Tomorrow when I go to Cabinet is to seek an audience with the um with the attorney general to find out whether or not they could be um some explanation uh to give some idea when this report will be ready,” stated Minister Joseph.<\/p>\n

The delay in the completion of the report has left both the family and the Health Ministry anxious for answers.<\/p>

Minister Joseph expressed his hope that the Attorney General’s office could shed some light on the situation and alleviate the family’s concerns.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“This is very important to the family… I’m hoping that within a short time there could be some explanation given to the family why this uh process has not yet been completed,” Minister Joseph remarked.<\/p>\n

While awaiting further developments in the investigation, Minister Joseph urged patience and assured that efforts are being made to expedite the process and provide closure to the family of Lateefa George.<\/p>\n
