Dear Editor,<\/p>\n

I bring to your attention a matter of urgent concern that is adversely affecting the working environment within the Prime Minister\u2019s Office.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

It is with a heavy heart and a sense of responsibility that I report the transformation of what was once a harmonious and family-oriented workplace into an increasingly aggressive and inhospitable environment.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This shift is primarily attributed to the actions and management style of a senior public servant in the Prime Minister\u2019s Ministry.<\/p>\n

The ethos of our office, known for its culture of togetherness and collective endeavor, has been significantly undermined.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The camaraderie and collaborative spirit that once defined our workplace have given way to a climate of antagonism and discomfort. This change has not only impacted the morale of the staff but also, I fear, is beginning to affect the efficiency and effectiveness of our Ministry.<\/p>\n

Eight hours of work, staff are on edge and can be described as walking on egg-shell not knowing when they would be targeted, provoked or transferred to another ministry or within the ministry at no given notice.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Instances where staff\u00a0members frequently report feeling undermined or undervalued, with their professional opinions and contributions often dismissed or ignored without a fair assessment.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

There has been a noticeable shift away from open and transparent communication channels.<\/p>\n

Decisions are often made unilaterally without consulting or informing relevant staff members, leading to confusion and a lack of coordination.<\/p>\n

The work-life balance previously respected in our office has been eroded. There have been instances of unreasonable demands without due consideration for the personal and familial commitments of the staff.<\/p>\n

The public officer’s management approach has become increasingly authoritarian.<\/p>\n

Feedback, when given, often takes a confrontational tone, creating an environment of fear rather than constructive dialogue.<\/p>\n

There are growing concerns about victimization, inequitable treatment, and favoritism, where certain staff members are given preferential treatment over others without clear justification.<\/p>\n

Attempts to address these issues through internal channels have been met with resistance or indifference, leaving staff feeling unheard and powerless to effect change.<\/p>\n

These highlighted systemic issues which need addressing\u00a0have contributed to a pervasive sense of unease and dissatisfaction among the staff.<\/p>\n

It is becoming increasingly challenging to maintain the high standards of professionalism and dedication that are the hallmarks of the Prime Minister\u2019s Office under these circumstances.<\/p>\n

Given the gravity of the situation and its potential impact on the functioning of our esteemed office,\u00a0we are calling for urgent reassignment or restructuring measures to be taken against this official.<\/p>\n

It is imperative that we foster a work environment where respect, professionalism, and a positive work culture are not just encouraged but exemplified by all, especially those in leadership positions.<\/p>\n

Thank you for providing a platform for our voices, and may we continue to work together for the prosperity and unity of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n
