\u00a0A 28-year-old woman has been granted TT$40,000 (One TT dollar=US$0.16 cents) bail after she appeared in the Arima Magistrate\u2019s Court, east of here, charged with two counts of sexual penetration against a male child.<\/p>

The woman, Molly Houllier-Mahabir aka \u2018Doodoos\u2019, was granted bail on the condition that the accused ceases all communication with the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The matter has been adjourned to Friday, September 21.<\/p>

The court heard that the offences are alleged to have occurred at Houllier-Mahabir\u2019s home during August 2016 and 2017, against the then 13-year-old boy.<\/p>

Houllier-Mahabir was arrested last week by officers of the Child Protection Unit Northern Division (CPU ND) and the charges were laid in accordance with the Children Act 2012 Chapter 46:01, which states, \u201cpenetration of a child\u201d includes\u2014 (a) the insertion of any body part or any object into a child\u2019s bodily orifice; or (b) the insertion of a part of a child\u2019s body into a person\u2019s bodily orifice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, the Children\u2019s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago called for boys to be protected from sexual abuse warning that acts against them are being under reported.<\/p>

\u201cThe Authority is calling on the public to recognise that sexual abuse of boys is also perpetrated by women and must be reported. Although society often accepts boys having sexual experiences with older women, this must be condemned as it is child abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Authority notes that celebrating sexual abuse of boys by women and accepting it as part of a boy\u2019s development into manhood, causes emotional and psychological problems for the child,\u201d the Authority said in a statement.<\/p>

The Authority gave no figures to indicate the extent of boys being sexually abused here, but said that it has had to intervene into the report of a 13-year-old boy who was engaged in sexual activity with a woman.<\/p>
