Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney Emphasizes Mission, Vision, and Core Values in Address to Officers<\/strong><\/p>

In an address to police officers at a ceremony earlier this week, Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney emphasized the importance of focusing on the core tenets of their oath of office, mission, vision, and core values for the continued success of the police force.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Rodney acknowledged the progress made by the police force but underscored that there is much more to be done.<\/p>

He stated, “If we are to improve and remain successful, we must focus on our oath of office, our mission, our vision, and hence my message for today is primarily hinged on this\u2014our mission, our vision, our core values.”<\/p>

Highlighting the significance of the mission, Commissioner Rodney defined it as the “duty, task assignment, or undertaking” of maintaining a professional police organization committed to the maintenance of law and order, the protection of life and property, and the prevention and detection of crime.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he stressed the importance of preserving peace by building stronger linkages between the police and the community through community-based policing and problem-solving.<\/p>

In alignment with their mission, Commissioner Rodney articulated the vision for the police force\u2014to remain a professional and principled community and service-oriented organization that is adaptive to change and committed to protecting the rights and ensuring the safety of all citizens.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner expressed his belief that adhering to these principles, along with core values such as professionalism, honesty, integrity, leadership, partnership, and service, would enable the police force to accomplish their goals.<\/p>

He stated, “I am of the strong belief that if we continue to be guided by these principles, we can accomplish the goals and tasks we aim to achieve.”<\/p>

Commissioner Rodney acknowledged that achieving these goals requires the commitment and dedication of the men and women of the police force.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the need for officers to focus on their overall development, including their spiritual, physical, and mental well-being.<\/p>\n

“To be true to our oath of office, our mission, our vision, and our core values, we are required to pay attention to our overall development, and we can do that by focusing on our spiritual, physical, and mental well-being,” Commissioner Rodney concluded.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner’s impassioned address serves as a rallying call for the police force to uphold their commitment to the community and to continually strive for excellence in their duty to maintain law and order.<\/p>\n
