One man was arrested yesterday after investigators discovered an illegal slaughter site in Perry Bay near the former Ribbit Night Club<\/em>.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Over\n100 heads of dead and decomposing sheep and goats were unearthed by police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several\nfarmers gathered at the site this morning as they attempted to identify the\nanimals, some of which were freshly killed.<\/p>

President of the National Livestock Association Emanuel Peters told state media that the Association has been hearing about the existence of these sites for some time.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know there was a lot, but I didn\u2019t expect it to be this amount\u201d, he said as he looked at a pile of skulls laid out at the site by crime scene investigators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peters\nsaid livestock farmers are being seriously affected by praedial larceny and\ncautioned businesses against buying meat from unauthorized sellers.<\/p>

\u201cAs\nfarmer we know we de-worm certain times of the year, we basically give these\nanimals a lot of antibiotics and all that\u201d, he said, warning of the health\nconcerns if humans consume this meat while the medicine is still active.<\/p>\n
