Lafontant, who has announced his resignation from the Jovenel Moise administration said that Haiti \u201chas lost a great lady and the health sector, a specialist in public health\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. G\u00e9d\u00e9on, who served in the Rene Preval administration between 1999-2001, was the second woman ever to be elected as head of the National Society of the Haitian Red Cross (NSHRC).<\/p>

\u201cToday, with this incalculable loss, the Haitian Red Cross mourns the departure of a former President who has shaped the destiny of the National Society and who will remain, in our memory, a volunteer and humanist, always attached to the values and Fundamental Principles so dear to our humanitarian commitment to the most vulnerable communities,\u201d said NSHRC president, Dr. Guiteau Jean-Pierre.<\/p>

Former first lady, Sophia Martelly, described the former health minister as a \u201chumble and courageous woman,\u201d adding that her \u201csudden death is a huge loss for the Haitian medical sector\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. G\u00e9d\u00e9on was a graduate of the Royal University of Haiti and Harvard University in the United States.<\/p>
