The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) is urging Caribbean and other countries in the hemisphere to ignore all acts by the Supreme Court of Justice in Venezuela, including extradition requests.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

The OAS General Secretariat said that the only democratic institutions in Venezuela, \u201cdue to their constitutional origin, their composition in accordance with constitutional procedures and their functions,\u201d are the National Assembly; the legitimate Supreme Court of Justice and the Attorney General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOnly the acts of these three institutions have the legitimacy and legality that demand compliance by all state entities in Venezuela, and their validation by the Inter-American and international community,\u201d the OAS said in a statement.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It said \u00a0\u201cVenezuela is a dictatorship, the National Constituent Assembly was elected through fraud, and the Executive Power and the Electoral Power have illegitimate origins, and the procedures for the composition of their highest magistrates have been either unconstitutional or fraudulent.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In addition to principles and values, the OAS said \u201cthere is a need to translate the legal and political consequences of the breakdown of the institutional order in Venezuela into practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn recent days, we have witnessed spurious extradition requests made by the illegitimate supreme court of justice of the dictatorship headed by its illegal president Maikel Moreno,\u201d the OAS General Secretariat said.<\/p>

It said \u201cthese \u2018extradition requests,\u2019 linked to the alleged attack against Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, are flawed and should be ignored by the international community because the body that issues them is fraudulent, its members are impostors, and their positions illegal\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opposition parties have been staging street demonstrations to force the Maduro government out of office.<\/p>
