Given the apparent reckless behavior of both parents of 5-year-old \u2018Shray Misna,\u2019 thereby riskily exposing him to physical danger and instant death, far and near, the \u2018Gospel of Care and Protection,\u2019 shall be preached to all nations. Criminal investigators shall teach the \u2018Lessons,\u2019 that there is no tolerance, neither for indulgence in reckless parenting, nor gross or grave, \u2018Parental Negligence.\u2019<\/p>

It has \u2018Twelve Lessons.\u2019 In the cases under reference, though \u2018Lured Killings\u2019 is not a legal term, the coined words speak to \u2018Killings\u2019 of innocent victims unsuspectingly lured to act to their detriment or death. No matter the sophistication, none shall harbor belief that in the \u2018Caribbean\u2019 crime is unsolvable pays or it pays. The recent \u2018Double-Tragedy,\u2019 looked at from a \u2018Modus Operandi,\u2019 the cases against murder-convicts; (i) \u2018John Earl Baughman-1994; and (ii) Ronald Gederon-2001,\u2019 appeared to have been replicated by the \u2018Suspicions Watery Death\u2019 of; (i) \u2018Mohini Misna 37; and (ii) Son Shray 5.\u2019<\/p>\n

SINISTER PLOT<\/p>

Either a \u2018Sinister Plot,\u2019 or an apparent impaired parental judgment saw the \u20185-year-old\u2019 being recklessly taken to a treacherous environment saw his \u2018Child Life\u2019 ended; (a) Tragically; and (b) In circumstances that require extensive investigations, all the way to his country of domicile-Canada.\u2019 The nation mourns, not only his tragic loss, but also that of his mother, \u2018Holini Misna 37.\u2019 Incidentally, seemingly well-timed, as he fell and instantly submerged by rushing waves. There was \u2018No straw to snatch or rope to hold on to for their safety.<\/p>\n

BEFORE THE SUN SETS<\/p>

The only non-responsive things in view; (i) \u2018The \u2018Rising Sun; (ii) The rugged shoreline rocks; and (c) The dangerous \u2018Bridge of The Devil.\u2019 Since both deceased, may have had no clue as to the geographic location, to have been taken to it between \u20186 am and 7 am\u2019 [November 30, 2023], may have been much more than to witness the spectacle of a \u2018Rising of the Sun.\u2019 Most unfortunately, they left \u2018Before the Sun Sets.\u2019 It was as much to the apparent \u2018Negligence\u2019 of both parents, as it was the innocence of a \u20185-year-old boy taken for a walk across the \u2018Bridge of the Devil\u2019 to instant \u2018Death,\u2019 that has inspired this commentary. Dedicated to their memory.<\/p>

ENVIRONMENTAL TURMOIL<\/p>\n

In spite of the infrequent incidents, some capable of being mildly described as \u2018Environmental Turmoil,\u2019 with some seemingly occasioned by visiting families, the nation remains a most popular tourist destination. Significant \u2018State\u2019 resources have been expended to ensure that visitors share and experience the warmth of the people and in its hospitality. There are fine foods and wines and liqueurs. These include a deceptive and enticingly-consumable national \u2018Rum Punch.\u2019 It shall be warned that the spirituous mixture was known to have left several consumers making request for more, only to be aided back to their resort\u2019s rooms.<\/p>\n

VISITOR\u2019S ATTRACTIONS<\/p>\n

The other \u2018Visitor\u2019s Attractions,\u2019 include; (a) \u2018The numerous white-sand beaches that nature has scattered across the nation\u2019s short-distanced shoreline; (b) Pristine non-turbulent sea water; (c) Breath-taking sceneries and lush green vegetation. Enjoyment is security-guaranteed for both visitors and nationals alike in an enabling environment, conducive to peace of mind; (d) Marine activities that provide for excursions around the nation, extending to \u2018Sister-Isle Barbuda,\u2019 with its spectacle of secluded white and pink sand beaches, that allows for suntanning-hedonism-style.<\/p>\n

CRIME TRIANGLE<\/p>\n

However meteorologically predictive, accurate or inaccurate it may be, it remains undisputed that lightning has never struck twice at the same place.\u2019 Relate such yet to be irrefutable fact to criminals and acts of criminality, none shall harbor illusions that from time to time, perpetrators of crime may not strike at the same place. Such belief shall be guided by the fundamentals of the \u2018Crime Triangle.\u2019 These include; (i) \u2018An intent: (ii) A victim; and (iii) An opportunity.\u2019 In the absence of anyone of these, a crime cannot be committed. For crime, no one knows this \u2018Crime Triangle\u2019 better than the sophisticated criminals as well as the amateurish ones.<\/p>\n

DESTINED TO DIE – HATCHED IN CANADA<\/p>\n

The \u2018Perpetrators of Evil,\u2019 were usually strategically-positioned to be in close proximity of the innocent victim, \u2018Destined to Die\u2019 horrible deaths. In the instant case of undoubtedly, the \u2018Lured Death,\u2019 the apparent timely and perfectly executed Act,\u2019 such was perpetrated against the \u2018Unsuspecting Wife and Son.\u2019 From a professional perspective, their demise was clearly not hatched on mainland \u2018Antigua.\u2019 Reasonably presumed, this may have been \u2018Hatched in Canada.\u2019. In remembrance of the apparent deceived and innocent deceased \u2018Mother and Son,\u2019 unsuspectingly \u2018Lured to the Bridge of the Devil\u2019 and helplessly perished\u2019 [November 30, 2023]. This is comprehensive.<\/p>\n

SUSPICIOUS CONCOCTION<\/p>\n

Instructively, the story seemingly a \u2018Suspicious Concoction,\u2019 informs; \u2018\u2026The little boy saw something and ran; \u2026Just then, a wave came up; \u2026He grabbed his mother\u2019s legs; and \u2026They both fell into the water.\u2019 The news portals attributed these to \u2018Tourism Minister Charles \u2018Max\u2019 Fernandez\u2019 [Island Press Box (IPB): 3 Days Ago]. Though sensitivity demands that some things were not queried, and cognizance of that was said to have \u2018Killed Cats,\u2019 \u2018Compelled by Temptation,\u2019 one might curiously ask; \u2018Did the little boy see and run from the devil?\u2019 Media revelations by the \u2018Minister appeared to have breached no confidential or investigative protocols.\u00a0 In fact, it was said to have been useful to criminal investigators on the tragedy and unfolding events.<\/p>\n

DEVIL\u2019S BRIDGE – TREACHEROUS SEA<\/p>\n

Not yet grown into boyhood, adulthood or manhood. Yet a \u20185-year-old boy was taken from the comfort of his accommodation and allowed access to the \u2018Bridge of the Devil.\u2019 However, it occurred, he fell off \u2018Devil\u2019s Bridge\u2019 into the \u2018Treacherous Sea.\u2019 He knew not that he was \u2018Drowning.\u2019 Moreover, he knew not the parable \u2018A drowning man clutches at a straw to save his own life.\u2019 Incidentally, there was none. Not even his mother was positioned to hold and cradled him in her safe and comforting arms. She too, was drowning helplessly. There was no father to grab and rescue him safety. He had reportedly, if not fakingly absent, running a quarter-mile distance to seek assistance. Both inescapably, sank beneath the sea.<\/p>\n

CONTRADICTIONS: TORMENTING GRIEF<\/p>\n

Though criminal investigators have been provided with \u2018Contradictions\u2019 of one kind or another, none may lend \u2018Credence\u2019 to the utterance of a man subjected to possible criminal investigation. Consequent upon the tragic turn of events on the \u2018Bridge of the Devil,\u2019 it is given clearly to understand and be remembered that; (i) \u2018Those that may have been motivated, calculatedly or negligently, caused his \u2018Watery Demise.\u2019 Clearly \u2018an innocent 5-year-old little boy; and (ii) Those that may fail in their investigative duty in bringing the perpetrator\/s to \u2018Criminal Justice.\u2019 they shall forever feel grievingly oppressed with an increasing sense of \u2018Tormenting Guilt.\u2019 over the \u2018Tragic Loss\u2019 of his life\u2019 [November 30, 2023].<\/p>\n

PEOPLE: WALK ACROSS DEVIL\u2019S BRIDGE<\/p>\n

There was no doubt that it has always been part human nature, to be adventurous, or to do the expected. There are five \u2018Classes of People\u2019 that may riskily venture a \u2018Walk\u2019 across the \u2018Bridge of the Devil.\u2019 As it relates to visitation to \u2018Bridge of the Devil,\u2019 these represents those that are likely: (i) The adventurous: (ii) The Reckless; (iii) Risky; (iii) The Idiotic: (iv) Those with Diminish responsibility: and (v) The unsuspecting perpetrators of crime.\u2019 These perpetrators represent the presence of evil.<\/p>\n

LESSON I<\/p>\n

These are intended to assist the reasoning of criminal investigators. Here begins \u2018Lesson I.\u2019 In Law enforcement and specifically, criminal investigation, and strictly from a professional perspective, \u2018Ignorance and Incompetence,\u2019 not only pose grave threat to crime-solving, but also to \u2018Criminal Justice.\u2019 Whatever has been so conceived, this concept speaks only to \u2018Criminal Prosecutions,\u2019 and not about \u2018Suspected Drowning.\u2019 Looked at from the heinous crime of \u2018Murder,\u2019 criminal investigators shall understand the \u2018Common Law\u2019 definition that guides their knowledge to effective criminal investigation and successful prosecution.<\/p>\n

INVESTIGATIVE THEORIES<\/p>\n

The criminal element \u2018Mens Rea\u2019 often guides \u2018Investigative Theories\u2019 and strategic approach in solving crime. Such certainly does not include; (a) \u2018Speculations; (b) Prejudicial personal opinions; or (c) Pre-conceive ideas\u2019 that often lead to; (d) Illogical and irrational conclusions.\u2019 Such are for the ignorant, incompetent or poorly trained enforcers of \u2018Criminal Law.\u2019 For instance, in an allegation of robbery, the motive has always been for the \u2018Proceeds,\u2019 inter alia; \u2018money; jewelry; cellular phones\u2019 etc. The criminals often deprived victims of any property, including those of sentimental value, be it cherished or intrinsic.<\/p>\n

CRIME: MOTIVES<\/p>\n

The \u2018Theories\u2019 developed by the individual criminal investigator, invariably guide a functional understanding as to why a criminal perpetrated crime, particularly, against the innocent and unsuspecting victim. Frequently, there is a \u2018Motive or Motivating Factors.\u2019 Guided by professional knowledge, in a reasonably suspected case of \u2018Murder,\u2019 there could be; (a) \u2018Motivated Greed,\u2019 to benefit from the proceeds of crime;: (ii) A multiplicity of other reasons, notably; (a) \u2018Passionate killings, arising from relationship-jealousy:-infidelities or adulterous relationship; (b) Family feuds (as the \u2018Calvin \u2018Burga\u2019 James\u2019 killing of niece \u2018Tahisha Thomas and nephew\u2019s fianc\u00e9e, Sanchezca Charles\u2019 [October 5, 2018]; (b) Retaliatory or revengeful; or (e) Killings resulting from gangsterism; or (c) Turf-war or rivalry.\u2019<\/p>\n

ELEMENT OF SURPRISE<\/p>\n

In the scheme of things, the criminal, with or without accomplices or sophistication, criminals were known to have devised \u2018Plans of Action.\u2019 It begins with first forming: (a) \u2018Criminal intention; (b) Identifying a vulnerable victim to be targeted; then (c) Seizing the opportunity to strike.\u2019 This often comes with the \u2018Element of Surprise.\u2019 Unknowingly and unsuspectingly, at the \u2018Opportune Time,\u2019 the victim is pounced upon. Such victim risked being; (a) \u2018Physically harmed: or (b) Robbed of property; or worst of all; (c) Deprived of life.\u2019 Not infrequently, for other reasons, the life had been negligently, deliberately or recklessly deprived.<\/p>\n

LESSON II<\/p>\n

When Law enforcement informed the citizenry that Police investigators were conducting a probe into a; \u2018Suspected Drowning,\u2019 to all intents and purposes and purposes, they appeared starved of professional knowledge. Whether by inadvertence or calculation or ignorance, they had avoided the investigative term \u2018Suspected Homicide.\u2019 That has been the training of professional \u2018Criminal Investigators.\u2019 The \u2018Suspected Drowning\u2019 term has become the terminology of the \u2018Ignorant and Incompetent.\u20190ne may ask; Why? Seemingly, with a \u2018Fixation\u2019 only on \u2018Drowning,\u2019 such often eliminated the second possibility- \u2018Suspected Murder.\u2019<\/p>\n

TELL THIS TO FRANKIE<\/p>\n

This speaks to an act of criminality.\u2019 In the instant incident, only (i) \u2018The \u2018Sea Water Witness; (ii) Sun in the sky; (iii) Rocks; (iv) Bridge of the Devil; (v) Sea water; and (vi) A husband who reported the incident that claimed the lives of his \u2018Dear???\u2019 wife and son. Claiming that both fell off the \u2018Bridge of the Devil\u2019 into the sea, instead of jumping to \u2018SAVE,\u2019 running to a hotel to \u2018SEEK\u2019 assistance. With no offence intended, \u2018Tell this to Frankie.\u2019 While the \u2018pathologist\u2019s Report, may so confirm, such was only for the purposes of knowing the \u2018Causes of Death.\u2019 What if, deceased were physically pushed into the sea, would the \u2018Causes of Death\u2019 not be the same?\u2019 Such question could never be posed to a \u2018Simpleton.\u2019<\/p>\n

NAIVETY AND SIMPLICITY<\/p>\n

Removing the discussion outside the realm of \u2018Naivety and Simplicity\u2019 and to an investigative level, do \u2018Causes of Death\u2019 speak to the \u2018Circumstances\u2019 surrounding death? That which may not have been factored into the equation, was that there were no eyewitnesses.\u2019 This necessarily meant that criminal investigators were relying upon the explanation provided by a possible \u2018Murder-suspect.\u2019 The investigator that lacked the \u2018Spirit of Discernment,\u2019 may believe that unlike; (a) \u2018The Vegetation; (b) Rocks; and (c) The Bridge of the Devil,\u2019 \u2018Dead Men Tell Tales.\u2019<\/p>\n

LESSON III<\/p>\n

That which \u2018British Jurisprudence\u2019 has provided from time immemorial to be a judicial practice, and continues guide \u2018Judges and Juries\u2019 within this jurisdiction, inclusive of the \u2018Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC),\u2019 still exist. That which guides; (i) \u2018Law enforcement: (ii) Coroners: (iii) Prosecutorial: and (iv) Judicial knowledge\u2019 in \u2018Criminal Evidence and Procedure\u2019 unambiguously. states: \u2018When a person of sound memory and discretion \u2018Unlawfully Kills\u2019 any reasonable creature in being, and under the \u2018King\u2019s Peace.\u2019<\/p>\n

ELEMENTS: MALICE<\/p>\n

Intended that the elements\u2019 constituting \u2018Murder\u2019 was clearly and evidentially understood, it speaks \u2018Malice Aforethought.\u2019 The Law provides to elements; (i) \u2018Expressed Malice; or (ii) Implied malice,\u2019 As if specifically given for clarity of understanding, and seemingly for the benefit of the \u2018Police Strategic Communication (STRATCOM),\u2019 it explains the legal term; \u2018Unlawfully Kills: (a) \u2018Death must be proved to have resulted from: (i) \u2018A voluntary and deliberate Act; or (b) Culpable Omission\u2019 on the part of an accused person. The legal experts sought to eliminate illiteracy and professional incompetence, with improved understanding of the latter. Thus, have provided additional clarifying information to criminal investigators.\u2019<\/p>\n

THE OMISSION<\/p>\n

LESSON IV<\/p>\n

Moreover, should this information failed to enlighten, then \u2018Criminal Justice\u2019 would have suffered the consequences of \u2018Ignorance and Incompetence.\u2019 \u00a0Moreover, should it not found to be professionally enlightening to those charged with criminal investigations, then \u2018Ants\u2019 will have been fed an early meal with the flesh of innocent victims like that for \u20185-year-old Shray Misna.\u2019 A child of tender years, was reportedly; (i) \u2018In the charge, lawful custody and care of his adult parents \u2018Satwick Misna 38; and Holini Misna 37; (ii) Unknowingly and innocently taken to the \u2018Bridge of Death,\u2019 thereby caused him to be exposed and suffered \u2018Perilous Consequences of Negligence\u2019 [November 30, 2023].<\/p>\n

SEEDS OF BELIEF<\/p>\n

Whether or not by \u2018Misadventure\u2019 or otherwise, it has been the professional knowledge and experience that the criminals have always attempted to sow \u2018Seeds of Belief\u2019 in the minds of; (i) \u2018Criminal investigators; (ii) General public; (iii) Public officials. Criminal investigators know that they shall not allow gullibility to allow neither; (a) \u2018Seeds- of Belief; nor Seeds of Doubt,\u2019 in their minds. These shall not be allowed to germinate, as to compromise ensuing criminal investigation. A classic example of such an attempt, might be discerned in this news portal story, disseminated and published on their widely visited web pages.<\/p>\n

LESSON V<\/p>\n

Those that lacked \u2018Conscience and Reason,\u2019 often struggled with the truth. Most were guided by preconceived \u2018Ideas and Misconceptions.\u2019 Seemingly, public officials visiting the \u2018Rocky and Watery Territory of the Devil,\u2019 and a possible \u2018Crime Scene, \u2018appeared to have become overwhelmed by \u2018Faked Grief.\u2019 Such criminal only needs the sympathy or empathy of one public official. They are fortified in their beliefs that they are not considered as suspect, particularly when there were dangerous utterances, based not upon verified facts, but on emotional feelings of emotions and expressions of sentimentality. These were often intended to derail thoughts or influenced public opinions and beliefs as to how some incidents may have occurred.<\/p>\n

LESSON VI<\/p>\n

When the \u2018Misna Family,\u2019 comprised of; (i) \u2018Husband Satwick 38; (ii) Wife Mohini 37; and (iii) Son Shray 5,\u2019 travelled to the sundrenched 170-square-miletwin-island-nation, none expected that tragedy would have struck the family with overwhelming horror\u2019 and devastating grief.\u2019 Research revealed that the family arrived from their country of domicile- Canada\u2019 [November 23, 2023]. They reportedly intended, and had a leisurely \u2018one-week stay.\u2019 Mindbogglingly, as fate often has it, or as man has invariably designed it, tragedy struck.<\/p>\n

UNSUSPECTED DECEPTION<\/p>\n

As dastardly as some criminal acts may be viewed, whether or not provocatively or passionately, professional investigative knowledge invariably guides the thinking.\u00a0 As with some other crimes, \u2018Murder\u2019 was often committed with \u2018Unsuspected Deception.\u2019 This has been particularly the case in some relationships, be they intimate or business-related. Invariably, by the time victims could say; \u2018Jesus Wept,\u2019 they were under vicious criminal attacks. Such often came with the element of surprise. Aggravating the situation, was the application of force, or the threat of using it against defenceless victims.<\/p>\n

LURED DEATH<\/p>\n

In the \u2018Lured- Death of Monique Ramsay,\u2019 professional investigative interaction with murder-suspect \u2018Ronald Gederon\u2019 revealed that the victim was \u2018Lured;\u2019 (a) \u2018Out of \u2018Divine Service;\u2019 and (b) Unsuspecting of death, led further away from her Potters family residence.\u2019\u00a0 It required only a. Bit of Deception.\u2019 Simply deflating two tires of his motor vehicle, the murder-convict confessed to requesting a ride to his \u2018Powell\u2019s Apartment\u2019 to fetch the lug wrench. Clearly, not necessarily to bring about her demise, such had been the \u2018Mode of Operation\u2019 of then \u2018LIAT\u2019s Pilot and fia2nc\u00e9 \u2018Ronald Gederon\u2019 [Sunday, July 17, 1994].<\/p>\n

OBSERVING EYES<\/p>\n

As tragedy struck, the only \u2018Observing Eyes\u2019 observing the criminal act, would have been those of the \u2018Evil Doer.\u2019 From an investigative perspective, this reasonably suggested conduct capable of being described the crime of \u2018Murder.\u2019 In the case of \u2018Joyce Baughman,\u2019 the murder-convict husband, explained her presence on the roof top of the resort. Conversely, having strangled his fianc\u00e9e, \u2018Monique Ramsay\u2019 at his \u2018Powells\u2019 apartment, \u2018Ronald Gederon\u2019 confessed to; (a) \u2018Calling her family; (b) Called and driven around to work-colleagues and friends to ascertain her whereabouts.\u2019<\/p>\n

LESSON VII<\/p>\n

Universally, in many instances, the unsuspectingly and easily \u2018Lured Away and Killed.\u2019 There have been many occurrences of the unsuspecting criminal behavior of persons enjoying very close relations with a deceased person. Lastly, the murder-convict reportedly drove to \u2018Coolidge Police Station\u2019 where deceptively, he made a \u2018Missing Person Report.\u2019 Clearly, lacking a sense of purpose and the spirit of inquisitiveness, the non-probing law enforcement officer, simply allowed the murder-accused, and eventual convict, to leave peacefully, even as frantic family members set about to ascertain her whereabouts to locate her.<\/p>\n

LURED TO DEATH: JOYCE BAUGHMAN-2001<\/p>\n

The other murder-convict was; (ii) \u2018John Earl Baughman 55.\u2019 Unsuspecting of death, he also \u2018Lured to Death,\u2019 his second wife, \u2018Joyce Baughman 53.\u2019 Led to the roof top of the 8-floor then called \u2018Royal Antiguan Hotel,\u2019 tragedy also struck. The cold-blooded murder explained to criminal investigators that he had invited her that they may \u2018Exchange Love Notes,\u2019 and take in the spectacular view of the surrounding environs. With some hesitation, unwillingness and timidity, she reportedly acceded to her husband\u2019s request. However, not very long after she got to the roof-top, a residence geographically located, and immediately above the resort\u2019s roof-top, \u2018Tragedy Struck\u2019 [Friday, June 1, 2001].<\/p>\n

MANIFESTATIONS<\/p>\n

Such \u2018Suspicions\u2019 include; (a) \u2018The earliness of time, said to have been between \u20186 and 7 o\u2019clock in the morning.
