The High Commission for Antigua and Barbuda in London hosted its Third Annual Antigua and Barbuda \u2013 United Kingdom Business Forum from 22nd<\/sup> to 23rd<\/sup> November, 2023.<\/p>

The event was attended by a delegation from Antigua and Barbuda led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, Honourable E.P Chet Greene and senior representatives from various commercial sectors to include port logistics, real estate, citizenship by investment, agriculture, wealth management and innovative energy solutions.<\/p>\n

The objective of the business forum was to provide a dynamic environment for businesses and industries in Antigua and Barbuda and the United Kingdom to establish linkages and explore the possibilities for economic partnerships.<\/p>

On 22nd<\/sup> November, esteemed guests gathered at the Royal Over-Seas League and were able to engage in an interactive roundtable discussion with Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) and the United Kingdom Department of Business and Trade on matters related to the CARIFORUM-UK Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).<\/p>

Additionally, Minister Greene formed part of a discussion panel which explored investment opportunities beyond sun, sand, and sea within the twin island state.<\/p>\n

The Minister expressed that the business forum afforded a unique opportunity for the introduction of Antiguan and Barbudan industries to the United Kingdom with the intention of forging strategic connections for trade and investments.<\/p>

Other panellists included Lord Henry Bellingham, former Minister for the Caribbean; Mr. Garfield Joseph, Executive Director of the Antigua and Barbuda Investment Authority and Dr. Nicholas Hardman-Mountford, Adviser and Head of Oceans and Natural Resources of the Commonwealth Secretariat.<\/p>\n

The keynote address was delivered by businessman and frequent visitor to Antigua and Barbuda, Steve Elsom.<\/p>

Crown Agents Bank provided use of its offices for senior representatives from both Antigua and Barbuda and the United Kingdon to engage in individual business-to-business meetings on 23rd<\/sup> November.<\/p>

The discussions centred around the trade and investment agenda of the government to include increasing investment in critical infrastructure to support business growth and development.<\/p>\n

Other topical areas covered capitalisation of Antigua and Barbuda’s booming tourism industry, promotion of the citizenship by investment unit and diversification of the agricultural, educational and healthcare sectors.<\/p>\n

Some of the UK businesses and organisations which participated included the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, Aquama & Renewables, Seafields Sargassum Management Company, WestMinister Group PLC, Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure Limited, REIDsteel, EcoStim Limited, Drift Energy Limited, and Greencrowd Partnership LLP.<\/p>\n

Mr. Garfield Joseph, Executive Director of the Antigua and Barbuda Investment Authority stated that:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe high number of one and one meetings with potential investors across a broad range of industries and sectors augurs well for the continued inflow of foreign direct investment into Antigua and Barbuda which is vital to achieve our long term economic and social sustainable goals<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Antiguan and Barbudan delegation were also invited to engage with members companies of the Caribbean Council at Hogan Lovells law firm. This provided a welcomed opportunity for a diverse selection of business leads to network and share experiences.<\/p>\n

The 2023 Business Forum culminated with a networking reception at the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u2019s Black Business Association networking event.<\/p>\n

The reception was chaired by Kike Oniwinde Ogoro, the award winning Founder and CEO of BYP Network, a multi-million pound company focused on advancing the careers of Black professionals around the world. Kike is also the Vice-Chair of the London Chamber of Commerce Black Business Association.<\/p>\n
