Prime Minister Gaston Browne has accused opposition groups in the country of disrespecting investors.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The PM said investors are difficult to attract based on the keen competition globally, and that is why when they show interest in Antigua and Barbuda they must not be disrespected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“But it is important that when we do get these investors to commit\u2026when you get an investor to come and do a property, the person of the group of people should be treated with respect,” he told his Saturday audience on Pointe FM.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He did not specify the opposition group but said:<\/g> “I find those who find themselves in opposition continue to just disrespect those investors just to promote some sort of ignorant popularism.”<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

“Because the truth is when you go behind their rhetoric is really ignorance,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And what they are doing in stymieing these projects and the development of our people,” Browne said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He said despite the opposition, several new hotel investments are well underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meantime, Prime Minister Gaston Browne is predicting that the country will benefit from more than 50 thousand more tourists by 2019.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

According to the prime minister, the Royal Antigua Hotel that was out of circulation for some time “should be completed by the end of the year” and will add more than 300 rooms.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hodges Bay Club is also expected to open this year with 120 rooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prime minister also reports “some good news” Calaloo Cay project at Morris Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am told they have been able to get their full financing. I am told there is a bank in Dubai that bought into the project, they are not only buying shares but they intend to fund the entire project.”So later this year we should see an acceleration of construction<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Marriott Hotel at the airport is also progressing according to Browne who said that they have got their drawings approved by the DCA recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“What I am told is that certain components could be built overseas and they could actually start manufacturing those components\u2026so the prospects are great<\/p>\n\n\n\n
