Former Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP)
\nHarold Lovell is calling on the people of St. Mary\u2019s South to keep the
\nfeet of the Antigua Labour Party (ALP) Government to the fire.<\/p>\n

The Browne Administration had promised and commenced a
\nnumber of projects in the constituency, some of which were started
\njust ahead of the October 24 by-election in the hope of giving the
\nLabour Party candidate an advantage.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

However,\u00a0the UPP candidate, Kelvin \u201cShugy\u201d Simon, emerged the
\nwinner by a margin of 174 votes.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Weeks before the by-election, part of the Bolans play field was
\nexcavated \u2013 reportedly for the construction of a spectator stand.<\/p>\n

But since the ALP\u2019s defeat, no infrastructural work has taken place,
\nand Lovell says that constituents must demand that the project be
\ncompleted.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He says, as well, that work commenced in earnest on the road
\nnetwork throughout the constituency,\u00a0but some streets remain in
\ndisrepair.<\/p>\n

And, again, Lovell urges the people to pressure the Government to
\ncomplete the work, saying there is a tendency of the Browne
\nAdministration to start projects before an election and stop
\nimmediately after,\u00a0then resume only on the cusp of another General
\nElection.<\/p>

Meanwhile, Lovell says that everything promised on the campaign
\ntrail by Dwayne George, including a $500 monthly stipend to small
\nbusinesses, should still be honoured.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

And, he says, the UPP will be holding the Labour Party accountable
\nto ensure that its promises are fulfilled.<\/p>\n

The people should also let the Administration know that when
\npromises are made, they \u2013 the residents \u2013 will ensure they are kept,
\nthe former political leader says.<\/p>\n

However, when these projects are completed, he says, constituents
\nshould give the credit to MP-Elect Simon \u2013 since it was in the ALP\u2019s
\nattempt to defeat him in the by-election\u00a0that all these promises were
\ngiven.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, supporting Lovell, Simon complains that since the play
\nfield has been dug up, it cannot be used now for its customary
\npurposes.<\/p>\n

He pledges to get the authorities to complete the job, or to restore
\nthe field to the condition it was in previously.<\/p>\n

Simon declares that the people of St. Mary\u2019s South have proven they
\nwill no longer stand for this type of disrespect from the Gaston
\nBrowne Administration.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, he will continue to pressure the Labour Party
\nGovernment to perform, he says, because that is why it was elected.<\/p>\n

The newly re-elected MP says this parliamentary term will not be a
\nholiday for the ruling party, as he will be making the necessary
\ndemands on behalf of his people.<\/p>\n
