REAL NEWS: Two social-media posts by former Cabinet minister Dean Jonas have
\nresidents wondering whether a war is brewing between him and
\nPrime Minister Gaston Browne.<\/p>\n

In one post, Jonas refers to a \u201cdonkey leader,\u201d\u00a0which he defines
\nas\u00a0\u201can incompetent and greedy leader who can only command a
\ngroup of sycophant(s)\u00a0and yes-men.\u201d<\/p>

According to the post,\u00a0\u201cThis leader is stubborn, selfish, and ignorant
\nof the needs and opinions of others.\u201d Further, Jonas opines, such
\npersons care only about their own interests and benefits, as they
\nseek to\u00a0exploit followers for their own gain.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He adds that these leaders \u201care unable to inspire, motivate, or
\nempower anyone, and they resort to bullying, cutthroat attacks,
\nthreats, lies, and manipulation to maintain their authority.\u201d<\/p>\n

The post ends with Jonas saying these leaders\u00a0are the worst kind
\nand should be exposed and removed from leadership.<\/p>\n

It is widely believed that the criticism was a response to the prime
\nminister\u2019s assertion that Jonas would have no place on the Antigua
\nLabour Party ticket come the next General Election, since he had lost
\nhis seat to Algernon \u201cSerpent\u201d Watts, the United Progressive Party
\ncandidate, in January 2023.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, Browne said he is looking for new blood to contest the
\nSt. George seat.<\/p>\n

In a second post that made the social-media rounds today, October
\n30, Jonas made a more obvious dig at PM Browne, saying \u201cthe
\ndonkey leader has no right to lead after the kick he got from
\nsomeone like [Kelvin Shugy Simon].\u201d<\/p>\n

The post notes that the donkey lost even though he had every
\nadvantage \u2013 money, State resources, and State power \u2013 in hand.<\/p>\n

Therefore, it concludes the leader \u201cis not worth his salt;\u201d and it calls
\non the failed leader to \u201cdo the right thing and stand down.\u201d
\nAnother former Labour Party MP, Asot Michael, made similar
\naccusations and came to the same conclusion during a Big Issues
\nouting on Sunday, October 29.<\/p>\n

Michael accused PM Browne of \u201c[abusing] his position in
\ngovernment with record election-campaign spending from the
\npublic purse to influence votes \u2026 and he was decisively defeated.\u201d
\nThe by-election outcome, says Michael \u2013 the current independent
\nrepresentative for St. Peter \u2013 proved that the people are not afraid to
\nclaim their power and face down aspiring dictators.<\/p>\n

Prior to Jonas\u2019 social-media affront, former MP Samantha Marshall \u2013
\nwho was summarily removed from the by-election contest in St.
\nMary\u2019s South \u2013 made a post about \u201cimmature leaders\u201d that was also
\nbelieved to be directed at the prime minister.<\/p>\n

However, after it caught the public\u2019s attention \u2013 and apparently was
\nanswered by Browne \u2013 Marshall quickly sought to do damage
\ncontrol, stating that the post was not necessarily relevant to her
\nsituation.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that there is dissention within the
\nranks of the Labour Party, with members privately grumbling
\nagainst Browne\u2019s autocratic leadership while putting on a public
\nshow of unity.<\/p>\n
