Around 12 inmates from His Majesty’s Prison celebrated their graduation from the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus Lifelong Learning Unit (LLU).<\/p>

They successfully completed various online courses, courtesy of professional development scholarships provided by prison officials.<\/p>\n

These inmates are part of the “Seeds of Hope” program, which began in 2022 to aid in their rehabilitation.<\/p>

Omari Philip, a convicted murderer, emerged as the valedictorian with an impressive 92.7% average in courses like Entrepreneurship and Crisis and Risk Management. Kenisha Wyte, a convicted robber, excelled in the Marketing course.<\/p>

Their fellow inmates achieved commendable averages of over 75% in their respective courses.<\/p>\n

Philip expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating that it instilled in him a sense of purpose and the belief that positive change is possible for everyone, regardless of their past.<\/p>

Paula Lee, Executive Director of the LLU, praised the inmates’ exceptional performance, acknowledging the challenges they faced due to prison regulations.<\/p>\n
