Overall, 2355 candidates in Antigua and Barbuda sat a total of 11, 232 subjects with a 70% pass\u00a0rate (Grades I \u2013 III).<\/g><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With reference to schools, public and private, 1514 candidates sat a total of 9, 397 subjects with\u00a0a 73% pass rate.<\/p>

This means then that out-of-school candidates (841) made up 36% of persons sitting the\u00a0examinations, but accounted for only 12% of subject sittings.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In other words, in-school\u00a0candidates made up 64% of persons sitting the examinations and also made up the bulk of\u00a0subject sittings at 88%.Overall<\/g>, the ratio of males to females sitting the examination is almost 1:2, that is, 37% males to\u00a063% females; however in schools<\/g> the proportions are 44% males to 56% females.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Most Outstanding School Student is Keondre Herbert of St Joseph\u2019s Academy who sat\u00a0and passed 20 Subjects with 20 Grade I\u2019s. His subjects were:\u00a0English A\u00a0English B\u00a0Biology\u00a0Chemistry\u00a0Physics\u00a0Integrated Science\u00a0Human & Social Biology\u00a0POA\u00a0POB\u00a0OA\u00a0EDPM\u00a0Economics\u00a0Info. Tech\u00a0Mathematics\u00a0Technical Drawing\u00a0Caribbean History\u00a0French\u00a0Physical Education\u00a0Indus. Tech. Building\u00a0Social Studies\u00a0\u00a0Overall, candidates were successful in 69.9% of subjects sat; for students in schools, this was\u00a073.0%.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nine in-school candidates did not sit examinations they registered for; a further 91 did\u00a0not pass any subjects they sat. Note however that approximately one-half of these students, 45 of\u00a0them, were only sitting one subject. There were in fact 128 in-school candidates who sat one\u00a0subject, and 83 of them were successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These usually are students who are jump-starting the\u00a0process, taking subjects in 3rd or 4th form. In the main, in-school candidates passed 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8\u00a0subjects, with the numbers of them doing so being 171, 164, 173, 144, and 135 respectively. At\u00a0the high-flying end of the spectrum, 113 candidates sat 10 or more subjects; 89 of them were\u00a0successful in all that they sat.<\/g><\/p>
