This coming Saturday, people in many parts of the world, including Antigua, will witness a rare celestial event \u2013 a solar eclipse.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Solar eclipses don\u2019t happen every day, so it will be quite a treat to witness the event.A solar eclipse takes place when the moon passes between Earth and the sun, blocking sections of the sun either totally or partially.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If the sun is totally blocked, it is known as a total solar eclipse but if parts of the sun are still visible, it is known as a partial solar eclipse.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In Antigua, and the rest of the Caribbean for that matter, a partial solar eclipse will be seen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The eclipse will begin at 1:06 p.m., peak at 2:41 p.m., and end at 4:04 p.m.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The entire spectacle will last two hours and 58 minutes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Although many might be tempted to watch this heavenly phenomenon, care must be taken since direct exposure to the sun\u2019s rays can cause eye damage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
