The Youth Opportunities, Lessons and Outcomes (YOLO) Summit received high praise for its innovative approach to financial education. <\/span><\/p>

The conference was held on Sept 23 & 24 at Julees located at the corner of Cross and Tanner Streets. <\/span><\/p>\n

It was staged by <\/span>SamuelFields Consulting Group (SFCG),<\/span><\/i> a group of financial wellness experts in collaboration with <\/span>Pockets Change<\/span><\/i>, a US based group of finance educators.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The YOLO Treasure Hunt was one of the highlights on the conference agenda. <\/span><\/p>

This challenging team-building exercise took participants on a journey to put their financial knowledge to use, while exploring St. John\u2019s through a business lens. <\/span><\/p>\n

This activity was designed as a fun, safe, unique, and engaging <\/span>way to teach important lessons about money. and provide a chance to win exciting prizes.<\/span><\/p>

As part of a presentation that addressed \u201cThe Five Money Musts,\u201d facilitated by SFCG\u2019s CEO, Megan Samuel-Fields, participants were provided with clues and riddles based on key financial concepts. <\/span><\/p>\n

This interactive expedition was designed to improve collaboration, communication, creativity, and problem-solving.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Teams comprising 2 to 4 participants were given 1 hour to race through the streets of St. John\u2019s to find the treasure by following clues and solving riddles hidden around town. <\/span><\/p>

They were strategically placed at businesses, landmarks and other public locations within a designated area \u2014 between Cross St and Thames St and Church St and Tanner St (CTCT).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Treasure Hunt was a way to give participants a mental and physical break after two intensive days of financial instruction. <\/span><\/p>\n

A<\/span>t SFCG we use gamification as a tool to enable learning. It increases engagement while incentivizing healthy financial habits. <\/span><\/p>\n

By making money a fun and interactive topic, the youth can improve their skills and chart a better financial future,\u201d said SFCG CEO, Megan Samuel-Fields.<\/span><\/p>\n
