Errol Joseph Aviation Loss<\/h2>\n

Errol Joseph, aircraft mechanic extraordinaire has died, and will be sorely missed by small aircraft aviators throughout the Eastern Caribbean.<\/p>\n

When I arrived at V.C. Bird International Airport 33 years ago it was common knowledge that Errol was the mechanic for any small or single engine aircraft with mechanical trouble. Although then based with Carib Aviation, Errol was the man on call from the USVI, BVI, down the chain of islands to Grenada in the South.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

Small aircraft feeding the First Class passengers in and out of the exclusive small islands of the Eastern Caribbean, required smart and effective ground service to satisfy the movement of the rich, famous and royals as they connected with their yachts, villas and exclusive resorts.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Dallying on the ramp is not a consideration, and Errol Joseph understood that imperative.<\/p>\n

Radio calls for Errol on the Ramp were normal, requiring the swift turnaround for the many small aircraft serving the Antigua hub seeking help.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Errol was flown throughout the region keeping planes in the air with the confidence in his experience and good humor with pilots and passengers, a lovely man!<\/p>\n

But all good things came to an end when the new and inexperienced management of Antigua\u2019s airport in recent times decided to strip the three local mechanics of their Security Passes to work on the airport as independents.<\/p>

Aviators are strange people, they need the airport to thrive, whether it is addiction to the smell of aircraft fuel or just the tension of high wire work, Errol had a stroke fighting to get back his work on the airport, was hospitalized, and now has died!<\/p>

To the brave aviator, the one who just loved to make planes fly, all of us who depended on Errol Joseph say Farewell, friend, colleague, enjoy the blue, as you make your way forward!<\/p>\n
