WIC – American actor and producer Leonardo DiCaprio has taken to his social media account to highlight the breathtaking transformation that the Redonda Ecosystem Reserve has experiences in the previous few years because of the various highly placed authorities.<\/p>

The post that the artists shared featured a video showing the island in the year 2016. The video then switched to show the development and transformation that the island has gone through in the previous years and how the area looks currently in the year 2023.<\/p>

The Redonda Ecosystem Reserve lies in the Redonda Islands and forms a significant part of the Antigua, Barbuda, and Leeward Islands. However, the area has remained highly uninhabited until recently, with the\u00a0authorities<\/a>\u2018 efforts, including the government of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

The American actor-producer Leonardo DiCaprio particularly highlighted the efforts of the Department of Environment (DoE) Antigua Barbuda Department of Environment and local and international conservation NGOs, including the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG), Fauna & Flora and Re: wild.<\/p>

He claimed that the area was once a barren \u2018moonscape\u2019. It has now been rejuvenated as a gem of the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

The Redonda Ecosystem Reserve, part of Antigua and Barbuda, covers almost 75,000 acres (30,000 hectares) of land and sea that has now been granted protected area status.<\/p>

DiCaprio has remained committed to working for the benefit of the environment.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Accordingly, he participates actively in all the activities and initiatives that can assist in the fight for\u00a0environmental<\/a>\u00a0protection and combatting the climate crisis.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The 48-year-old actor highlighted the efforts of all the individuals involved in ensuring that the Redonda Ecosystem Reserve receives the protected area status.<\/p>\n

He shared that the now lush wildlife sanctuary protects the entire island under the status.<\/p>\n

The protection also extends to its surrounding seagrass meadows and coral reefs.<\/p>\n

The Redonda Ecosystem Reserve is home to at least 30 globally threatened and near-threatened species and globally important seabird colonies.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to everyone who made this happen and who continues to work together on a range of actions to support Redonda\u2019s biodiversity, including monitoring the recovery of native species and the marine\u00a0environment<\/a>\u00a0and planning the reintroduction of native species that cannot find their way back to the island, such as iguanas and Burrowing Owls.<\/p>\n

The social media users have also expressed their delight in getting to know that the breathtaking area has recieved the protected status and so many efforts are being taken up to\u00a0support<\/a>\u00a0the ecosystem and the biodiversity of the island.<\/p>\n
