Constable Robert Dyer of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda tragically died in a motorcycle accident on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway near Luna Park around 11:20 am yesterday.<\/p>

Corporal Brendan Sutherland, a traffic department supervisor, expressed the deep sorrow felt by the police force upon hearing the news.<\/p>\n

He described Constable Dyer as a patient and easy-going individual, known for his passion for motorcycling.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This unfortunate incident followed a previous accident in June 2020 when Constable Dyer broke his leg colliding with a container truck near the Sagicor Life Building.<\/p>

A second road fatality within the short space of three days has been\u2028recorded on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway (formerly Factory\u2028Road), claiming the life of a police constable.<\/p>

Reports say that, while heading west on his motorcycle, Officer\u2028Robert Dyer collided head-on with a vehicle traveling in the\u2028opposite direction.\u2028\u00a0\u2028It is said that the impact resulted in the officer dying on the spot.<\/p>\n

The twisted and mangled remains of the motorcycle were seen in\u2028the middle of the roadway, as were oil stains from the bike, with\u2028several parts of it strewn across the surface and road shoulder.<\/p>

The officer\u2019s body was propelled several feet away from the wreck,\u2028and parts of his uniform, including his hat and shoes, were also\u2028scattered across the roadway.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Reportedly, Dyer sustained a multiplicity of injuries, including the\u2028loss of a leg during the impact, and sustained broken bones, with\u2028some being exposed through his elbow.<\/p>\n

The motorbike officer was attached to the Traffic Department, and\u2028this was not his first accident while on duty.<\/p>\n

He sustained a broken leg on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, in an incident\u2028that took place in the vicinity of\u00a0Sagicor\u00a0Life on the Factory Road.\u2028In that instance, he had been traveling behind a 40-foot container\u2028truck.<\/p>\n

At the same time that the driver attempted to make a right\u2028turn onto Lady Nugent Avenue, Dyer reportedly attempted to pass\u2028and collided with the truck.<\/p>\n

As a result of the impact he became airborne and landed on the\u2028nearby pavement, injuring his leg.<\/p>\n
