The Antigua and Barbuda Associations United is now the<\/span> beneficiary of a generous donation of eight computer systems that will be used in an initiative geared<\/span> at preparing students for their future roles as professionals and business leaders. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The donation of the eight Dell Latitude 5430 (5000 Series) computers was handed over to members<\/span> of the association by Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations<\/span> Ambassador Walton Webson during a brief ceremony last week.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The funds to purchase the systems were raised during the annual Independence Gala and<\/span> Awards hosted by the New York Offices last year and will be used by the Association in expanding<\/span> its Mentorship Programme. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The Independence Gala was well attended by Antiguans and Barbudans and attracted the generous<\/span> support of a selfless group of sponsors to include American University of Antigua College of<\/span> Medicine, Arton Capital, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority – USA, Giselle Bru,<\/span> Ambassador Hanna Akar, the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Unit, American<\/span> Airlines, Premier Beverages, ABS Radio and Television and Pointe Express.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cWe cannot say enough by way of gratitude to our donors who went out of their way to sponsor the<\/span> gala. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is deeply satisfying that as a result of their contribution we can present these systems to the<\/span> Antigua and Barbuda Associations United so they can continue their work in<\/span> positively impacting the young minds of our nation,\u201d stated Ambassador Webson. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

On hand to receive the donation were President of the Association Andy Howell and some of its<\/span> other members including Gina Philip, Helenmay Bady, Alexander Howell and Alexandera Mays.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very grateful for the support of the New York Offices of Antigua and Barbuda,\u201d said Andy<\/span> Howell.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cTheir efforts and contribution will help students in Antigua and Barbuda continue learning<\/span> and preparing for the future, like any other youth in the world.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Antigua and Barbuda Associations United (ABAU) is presently the umbrella organization for over<\/span> twenty-five (25) non-profit organizations in the northeast United States. <\/span><\/p>\n

The organization was<\/span> founded in January 2006 with a mission to strengthen and unify Antigua and Barbuda community<\/span><\/p>\n

organizations throughout the United States so they can enhance the lives of Antiguans and<\/span> Barbudans at home and abroad.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The mission of the ABAU Mentoring Program is to create a positive educational and financial<\/span> culture that empowers secondary school students in Antigua and Barbuda with the tools to make<\/span> informed choices.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Preparations are well underway for this year\u2019s Gala and organisers have decided to make the Antigua<\/span> and Barbuda Students Association the 2023 beneficiary of their fundraising efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The gala will be<\/span> held at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle on Saturday November 18th and will feature<\/span> the Original Burning Flames, which has emerged as a consistent feature and partner to the event.<\/span><\/p>\n
