In the first incident, three people lost their lives and two others were left hospitalised following a fatal accident on Unity public road, East Coast Demerara.<\/p>

The incident occurred around 11 pm.<\/p>\n

The deceased from this accident have been identified as\u00a021-year-old Elijah Pellew of Unity Mahaica (motorcyclist), 21-year-old Pillion rider Raymond Rose of Supply Mahaica and\u00a0Shawn Persaud, 19, of\u00a0Huntley Mahaicony, who was a passenger in a vehicle.<\/p>

It is alleged the motorcycle overtook a motorcar and collided with the right side of another vehicle causing it to spin into the path of the motorcar.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The driver pulled left to avoid a collision and ended up in the southern driving lane parapet. As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist and the pillion rider were flung off the motorcycle, collided with the right side of a lorry and fell onto the roadway, receiving injuries on their bodies.<\/p>\n

The occupant in the vehicle (front right side) was pinned down, while the other occupant in the rear seat received injuries about his body due to the collision.<\/p>

The motorcyclist, pillion rider, and the two occupants of the vehicle were picked up by citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.<\/p>\n

The motorcyclist, pillion rider and one of the occupants in the vehicle were pronounced dead on arrival at GPHC by a doctor on duty.<\/p>

The occupant in the vehicle’s back seat was seen and examined by a Doctor who admitted him as a patient suffering from a punctured Spleen.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The driver of the vehicle was escorted to the Mahicony Cottage Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor who admitted him as a patient suffering from Cerebral Concussion.<\/p>\n

Two drivers are in custody. Further investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 19-year-old motorcyclist died in an accident that occurred just after 12 am on # 11 Public Road, East Berbice.<\/p>\n

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Thakoor of New Amsterdam, Berbice.<\/p>\n

According to reports the accident involved Thakoor, another motorcyclist, a 24-year-old man, from Berbice; and a pillion rider, an 18-year-old man from\u00a0New Amsterdam Berbice.<\/p>\n

Enquiries disclosed that the two motorcyclists were proceeding East on the northern drive lane of the # 11 Public Road at a fast rate.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that the now-deceased motorcyclist undertook his motorcycle and clipped the said motorcycle handle, causing both motorcyclists to lose control.<\/p>\n

Rahul Thakoor collided with a lamp pole on the northern side of the road while the other motorcyclist and pillion rider fell on the road surface where they received injuries on their bodies.<\/p>\n

Thakoor was unconscious, while the other two men were picked up in a conscious state by\u00a0citizens and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where they were seen and examined by the doctor on duty.<\/p>\n

Thakoor later succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment. The injured men were treated and admitted for observation in the Accident & Emergency Unit. Their conditions are regarded as stable.<\/p>\n

Both motorcycles were lodged in the Central Police Station compound to be examined by the License and Certifying Officer.<\/p>\n

Investigations are in progress.<\/p>\n
