The Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) encourages its members to schedule and attend\u00a0 regular wellness appointments with their physicians. This will ensure efficient chronic\u00a0 disease management and adherence to medication regimens. <\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Patients are also advised\u00a0 to consult their physicians immediately if they have concerns or experience side\u00a0 effects from any medication rather than to discontinue its use. <\/span><\/p>\n

As a result of such\u00a0 engagement, both beneficiaries and physicians will have the opportunity to dialogue\u00a0 and reassess the efficacy of continuing to use any medication.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Improper use of\u00a0 medication can result in wastage which can be a significant financial burden.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Medical Benefits Scheme provides medication to assist its beneficiaries in the\u00a0 management of eleven (11) chronic conditions, including hypertension, diabetes,\u00a0 cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Approximately nineteen million Eastern\u00a0 Caribbean dollars is expended by the MBS in procuring these pharmaceuticals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MBS continues to make every effort to procure pharmaceuticals despite global\u00a0 supply issues. <\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Beneficiaries are assured that the medication required for the\u00a0 management of their chronic conditions is available and can be sourced from the MBS\u00a0 network of pharmacies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beneficiaries are also encouraged to engage in physical\u00a0 activity and healthy eating as part of their wellness plan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Physicians are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the list of medications on\u00a0 the national formulary to ensure that the medications they prescribe to beneficiaries\u00a0 are those on the formulary. <\/span><\/p>

This will ensure that the medications they prescribe to\u00a0 beneficiaries are readily available at our pharmacies.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
