The decision was made at a recent cabinet meeting in an effort to strengthen relations between both countries.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the government said: \u201cCabinet has taken the decision to have St Kitts and Nevis host a US Embassy to strengthen the relationship and partnership with the United States of America\u201d.<\/p>

\u201cThe Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis continues to regularly meet with and engage US officials on this subject and awaits the decision of the US with optimism\u201d.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The St Kitts and Nevis Government\u2019s position follows an announcement by Vice President Kamala Harris that the United States has begun the process to establish two new embassies and an additional diplomatic support presence in the Eastern Caribbean.<\/p>\n

The US\u2019 Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados currently serves the Eastern Caribbean.<\/p>

St Kitts and Nevis is following in the footsteps of Antigua and Barbuda, who recently said that it has identified a plot of land that the US can use to re-establish an embassy in St John\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office, Lionel Hurst, told journalists last month the land is located in an area dubbed as \u201cEmbassy Row\u201d on Marble Hill.<\/span><\/p>
