This was planned with a focus on strengthening partnerships, reaffirming Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s affection and commitment for the Canadian market<\/span>, while\u00a0<\/span>simultaneously exposing the destination to<\/span>\u00a0a<\/span>\u00a0huge swathe of Canadian consumers.<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>

\nJames attended a series of special events and met with key representatives from the travel industry who all reported strong growth in business to Antigua\u00a0<\/span>and Barbuda\u00a0<\/span>as a direct result of the sterling marketing efforts of\u00a0<\/span>the ABTA Team in<\/span>\u00a0Canada.<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>

The week<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s activities\u00a0included\u00a0<\/span>attending\u00a0<\/span>important meetings with key tour operators\u00a0like\u00a0Air Canada<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Vacations,\u00a0Sunwing,\u00a0TravelBrands\u00a0and WestJet.<\/span><\/p>\n

This winter will see flights returning to pre<\/span>–<\/span>pandemic levels with a flight from Canada every day of the week during the busy winter season.<\/span><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>

\nThe destination\u00a0<\/span>also\u00a0<\/span>announced its new strategic partnership with Ensemble<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0a major travel consortium with decades of experience and thousands of travel advisors throughout Canada and the US. <\/span><\/p>

This arrangement provides Antigua and Barbuda with a new marketing channel that is a direct fit with its high-end properties.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An<\/span>\u00a0engaging fireside chat<\/span>\u00a0event,\u00a0<\/span>joint<\/span>ly hosted<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>by the\u00a0<\/span>ABTA<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Ensemble\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>rew media and attendees from diverse stakeholder groups, including trade professionals, agency owners, and travel advisors.\u00a0<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

CEO James was consistent in his messaging at each appearance, highlighting the robust calendar of events that make up Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s ongoing \u2018Year of Wellness\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to the latest statistics, James noted that 2023 visitor arrivals from Canada had already reached 17,780 by the end of June\u00a0<\/span>– eclipsing 2022\u2019s figure by 164% percent and representing a return to near pre-pandemic levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

Incredibly, Canada\u2019s year to date (YTD) growth was over 100 per cent higher than the next closest market, speaking to the exploding popularity of the destination with Canadians.<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Notably, James was also interviewed live on the breakfast show of CP24, which is Canada\u2019s\u00a0premier English language speciality news channel with an audience of over\u00a0<\/span>one million\u00a0<\/span>viewers each day.<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Other media interview<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0were held with Jewel 88.5 FM,\u00a0MNI Media, Dreamscapes as well as travel trade publications such as Canadian Travel Press, Open Jaw,\u00a0Travelweek\u00a0and\u00a0Travel Industry Today. <\/span><\/p>\n

Every\u00a0opportunity was used to share the many virtues of Antigua and Barbuda and a few exciting announcements of the new or renovated hotel product for\u00a0the upcoming season and the exciting events on the tourism calendar for 2024.<\/span><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe destination\u2019s new \u201cAnd\u201d campaign, which espoused Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s unique selling point: the distinct charms of both islands, coming together into one cohesive experience was widely promoted and well received.\u00a0<\/span><\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n


\nCEO James also took pride in sharing the remarkable accomplishment of the recent Virgin Galactic space launch, which saw an Antiguan and Barbudan mother-daughter duo become the first people of Caribbean origin\u00a0and Antigua<\/span>\u00a0and Barbuda\u00a0<\/span>nationals\u00a0to visit space.<\/span><\/p>\n

This feat\u00a0as well as the amazing rowing\u00a0<\/span>accomplishments of the Team Antigua Island Girls has put an unprecedented media spotlight on the destination.<\/u>\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n
