The Caribbean Plant Health Directors (CPHD) Forum proposes to convene its 16<\/span>th <\/span>annual meeting in Antigua and\u00a0 Barbuda from 14<\/span>th <\/span>\u2013 18<\/span>th <\/span>August, 2023.<\/span><\/p>

The meeting represents the first face to face meeting of members and partner\u00a0 organizations since the COVID 19 pandemic and will be held jointly with the International Plant Protection\u00a0 Commission (IPPC) Regional workshop, which will focus on the standardization of regional plant health agendas and\u00a0 operations with an emphasis on technical and emerging issues beneficial to the regional plant health systems. <\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0 workshop will also provide a platform for increased engagement in the International Standards for Phytosanitary\u00a0 measures (ISPMs) and will offer the Caribbean Community valuable insights into the IPPCs operations and objectives.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>

The theme for the meeting is \u201c<\/span>Plant Health for Environmental Protection<\/i><\/b>\u201d. <\/span><\/p>

The first three days of the meeting will be\u00a0 devoted to developing and reviewing regional plant health technical and policy proposals consistent with the theme\u00a0 while the two remaining days will be dedicated to the endorsement of comments on draft ISPMs to be submitted to\u00a0 the IPPC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The forum will also provide relevant updates on plant health matters and initiatives being undertaken in the\u00a0 Caribbean region that will impact\/ or require the CPHD\u2019s membership support and involvement in safeguarding the\u00a0 region from pests and invasive species. Discussions will revolve around the following:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
