Ten-year-old Shanae Peters, student of the Five Islands Primary School and sponsored by Millennium Brokerage and Equipment Services, emerged the winner of this year’s ABI Insurance Optimist Petit<\/i><\/em>\u00a0show.<\/p>

“I feel good,” said Shanae after her win at the UWI Open Campus last evening.<\/p>\n

“I worked hard and I did my best”.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Her favourite part of the night, she said, apart from being crowned Optimist Petit winner, was her performing talent and doing what she loves and having fun with it.<\/p>

Competing in three segments, the young Peters was adjudicated the best\u00a0Performing Talent<\/i><\/em>.<\/p>\n

First runner-up was ten-year-old Aaliyah Henry, also of the Five Islands School and sponsored by Nava Carnival. Aaliyah won the Personality and Aspiration <\/i><\/em>segment.<\/p>

Nine-year-old Trequesha Martin, a student of the Cobbs Cross Primary school managed to secure the second runner-up position.<\/p>\n

11-year-old Jewel Crump, another student of the Five Islands Primary School and sponsored by Express Laundromat and Dry Cleaning Services, earned the third runner-up position. She also claimed the title for best Interview<\/em>\u00a0on the evening.<\/p>

With Jewel’s best interview win, the Five Islands Primary School would have garnered three of the show’s top four spots overall and all three of the judged segments on the night.<\/p>

President of the Optimist Club Alison Charles was extremely impressed with the children\u2019s performances.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of the delegates hold back a bit when we have our practices,\u201d said Charles.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut on a night like tonight, they invariably wow you like you\u2019ve never seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ABI Insurance Optimist Petit Show,<\/i><\/em>\u00a0now in its 27th<\/sup>\u00a0year, <\/i><\/em>provides an avenue for boys and girls between 9 -11 years old to showcase their talent and develop their public speaking skills.<\/p>\n

This year, ten boys and girls competed for the coveted title.<\/p>\n
