To date,\u00a0there has been no official confirmation by British\u2028authorities on the status of Antigua and Barbuda\u2019s travel\u2028arrangements.<\/p>\n

However, Damani Tabor,\u00a0UPP public relations officer, says that\u2028Britain\u2019s decision to cancel visa-free access is likely to impact\u2028Antigua and Barbuda eventually.<\/p>

After all, he says, the Browne Administration has done nothing to\u2028improve the country\u2019s Citizenship by Investment programme nor its\u2028overall position.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Tabor accuses the Browne Administration of having weakened the\u2028programme by removing the mandate of an oversight committee\u2028and shortening the residency period \u2013 thereby placing the CIP in a\u2028vulnerable position.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, he notes that the ratings of the country\u2019s passport will\u2028continue to decline, further damaging marketing prospects.\u2028Tabor says the Government cannot afford to have the CIP fall further\u2028in the rankings, as this will reduce the revenue collected and bring\u2028greater hardship on citizens and residents.<\/p>

Therefore, he is wondering whether the Government has taken any\u2028preemptive measures to avoid a fate similar to Dominica\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Given the situation, Tabor says, the Administration should be\u2028considering any action which could demonstrate to the UK that it\u2028will attract only the highest-quality applicants \u2013 in order that\u2028confidence in the programme can be restored.<\/p>

He believes that\u00a0reconstituting the oversight committee and\u2028extending the residency period would also help demonstrate that\u2028this country is serious about border security \u2013\u00a0 which the UK says it\u2028is trying to protect.<\/p>

Further, Tabor says that Government should be seeking an audience\u2028with UK officials to discuss how any fallout with this country can be\u2028avoided.<\/p>\n
