The government says measures are being put in place to ensure safer streets and a cleaner city for carnival and beyond.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
An official from National Solid Waste Management (NSWM) will join the St. John\u2019s Development Corporation (SJDC) staff to ensure a cleaner City of St. John\u2019s going forward, according to a recent decision of the Cabinet.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The administration is determined to ensure that St. John\u2019s will be in a state of readiness to receive nationals and visitors, especially during the Carnival season 2018. During the Carnival season, CBH workers will continue to ensure that the inner city is kept clean and safe.”<\/u><\/u><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Royal Antigua and Barbuda Police Force will also begin “an intense campaign” on Monday, July 23, 2018, to encourage safe driving and providing anti-theft tips to car owners and to homeowners during the Carnival Season.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The Police will intensify their public presence and make other kinds of plainclothes investigation to nab criminals,” the government said.<\/u><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It is also expected that a safety and emergency plan will be put in place during the Carnival season involving a variety of health professionals, working alongside the Police and the military.<\/div>\n
