After a thrilling night of performances at the Antigua Recreation Grounds (Carnival City) last evening, the list of the 14 finalists for the Flow Party Monarch<\/i><\/em>\u00a0competition has now been completed.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Defending groovy monarch Tian Winter will compete in both groovy and jumpy categories. Also competing in both categories are Claudette Peters, Zamoni, Lyricksman and Menace. Kimmy makes her second party monarch finals in the groovy section with her song ‘Chug It’.<\/p>\n

      The defending jumpy monarch is Ricardo Drue.<\/p>

      This year, the semifinal venue was changed from the Barrymore Hotel to the ARG and Flow Party Monarch chairman Herbert \u201cBurga\u201d Joseph expressed his pleasant surprise at last night\u2019s turnout.<\/p>\n

      \u201cI was impressed,\u201d said the party monarch chairman.<\/p>

      \"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

      \u201cI didn\u2019t expect that many people. The turnout exceeded our expectations by three. From where I was, the grounds looked packed.\u201d<\/p>\n

      Despite the higher than expected turnout, most of the people entering the grounds arrived after 8 pm despite the listed start time of 7pm. The chairman explained that because of the late-arriving crowd that, \u201cWe had to make an executive to delay the start time of the show.\u201d<\/p>

      \"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

      \u201cThe artists need the energy from the crowd to perform, so we thought it prudent wait for the crowd to build before we start.\u201d<\/p>

      \"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

      The show began a little bit after 8 pm.<\/p>\n

      This year\u2019s semifinals was also dubbed as a \u2018cooler fete\u2019 and Joseph felt that the concept helped boost attendance to the show despite saying that, \u201cI wanted to see more coolers, but it\u2019s still our first year.\u201d<\/p>\n

      \u201cNo sense in reinventing the wheel. We reached out to the people at LOL to see how we could make our event as successful as theirs and we will only get better in years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

      The artists will all appear on Carnival \u2018Bacchanal Sunday\u2019 (5 August) to compete for a first-place prize of 50,000 (up from $30,000 in 2017). This year\u2019s cash prize for the first runner-up is $40,000 and the second runner-up $30,000.<\/p>\n
