Reports say that a fisherman, Ogdon Peters, faced a number of charges, including traffic offences and gun and ammunition possession.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to all the charges and was convicted and fined $9,000, which he has to pay within four months.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He was convicted and fined $4,000 for several traffic offences \u2013 including driving a vehicle with a registration plate that was not assigned to him; driving without a licence; driving without insurance; and driving an unlicensed vehicle.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

On the gun-possession charge, Peters has to pay $5,000, while he was reprimanded and discharged for possession of ammunition. The Court spared him any monetary penalty, since the ammunition
\nfound was a spent shell.<\/p>\n

The weapon was found at his house during the execution of a search warrant by the Police.\u00a0 It is alleged that Peters tried to discard the weapon outside his home, but officers had surrounded the house.<\/p>

On the other matter, Peters told the court that he had gone to his mechanic to retrieve his car, which had been in the shop for a while. He claimed he had just gotten the vehicle and had not had the time
\nto get it registered. Hence, in a hurry to visit his baby \u2013 whom he claimed he had not seen for some time \u2013 Peters said he had used another license plate on his car.<\/p>\n

The man has a previous conviction for battery.\u00a0 Meanwhile, Hakeem Jeffery has been sentenced to one year in prison for possession of a gun and ammunition. Jeffery pleaded guilty to the charge before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh on Monday, July 10.<\/p>

Reports say the Police conducted an operation on the Factory Road at about 3:37 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, in the vicinity of the Government Workshop.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

There, a white Toyota BB motorcar, A8639, was stopped and searched. During the exercise, one 9 mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition were found under the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n

Reports further say that Jeffery, of Golden Grove, was the driver, while two male passengers, Shalom Bailey of Belmont and Arisleydi Santiago, of Grays Farm, were in the car.<\/p>\n

They were all arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of the firearm and ammunition and were taken to the St. John\u2019s Police Station.<\/p>\n

In court, however, Jeffery took the rap for the firearm and ammunition.<\/p>\n

He was represented by lawyer Lawrence Daniel, who told the court that he has not been convicted of anything. However, when checks were made, it was discovered that Jeffery has a matter in the High
\nCourt for armed robbery.<\/p>\n

He was committed to stand trial before a judge and jury and is currently on High Court bail.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, Jeffrey\u2019s mother became very emotional after hearing that her son was being sent to prison.<\/p>\n
