The Antigua and Barbuda National Olympic Committee (ABNOC) just announced its squad for 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) to be held in Barranquilla, Colombia, 19th July \u2013 3rd August.<\/p>

Antigua and Barbuda will compete in 6 different disciplines, namely: Athletics, Swimming, Lawn Tennis, Fencing and Beach Volleyball. All disciplines listed, met the qualification standards for this year\u2019s Games.<\/p>\n

Antigua and Barbuda will make history as, for the first time, it will be competing in the sport of Fencing. 18-year-old Marcel Maurice will compete be the nation’s first to compete in fencing. He will be managed by Rameez Mascall, fencing coach and executive member of the Antigua and Barbuda Fencing Federation (ABFF).<\/p>

The country’s first entrant into Fencing for the CAC Games, Marcel Maurice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Beach Volleyball will also be represented by Nyota Peters and Joelle Thomas and managed by Olsen Joseph. Henry Matthew will also attend as a FIBA referee.<\/p>

Swimming will be represented in several disciplines by Samantha Roberts, Makaela Holowchak, Stefano Mitchell and Noah Mascoll-Gomes. The swim team will be coached by Nelson Molina Fojo.<\/p>\n

ABNOC General Secretary Cliff Williams said that, \u201cThe High expectation is always the thinking of Sailing at the CAC Games. This edition will feature our top sailors.\u201d<\/p>

Rhone Kirby and Jules Mitchell will represent Antigua and Barbuda. The manager is Ashley Rhoades.<\/p>\n

Lawn Tennis will feature a star-studded lineup of Jody Maginley, Cordell Williams Jr., Carlton Bedminister and D\u2019Jeri Raymond. Alicia Williams, Selene Kentish along with Cordell Williams Sr. will manage the team.<\/p>

\u201cFull confirmation hasn\u2019t been forthcoming from the ABAA as to who will participate however, confirmation has been received by Cehjae Greene and Priscilla Frederick,\u201d according the general secretary.<\/p>\n

The team will be managed by Heather Samuel-Daley.<\/p>\n

The rules of the 2018 CAC Games have restricted full travel part to enter the Games village at once. Now, each sporting discipline is to enter the Games 3 days before the start of their respective competition. It means, then, that Sailing and Swimming will be competing from the start of the Games and will both be in Barranquilla for the Opening Ceremonies.<\/p>\n

Tennis, Beach Volleyball, Fencing and Athletics will be competing at the later part of the Games and will travel one week later.<\/p>\n

CASCO celebrates the 23rd edition of the CAC Games among 37 nations with an estimated 5,854 athletes competing for 470 medals positions. The Antigua\/Barbuda delegation will be headed by Mr. Phillip Isaacs Sr as the Chef de Mission along with Mr. Eric Henry as Administrative Assistant.<\/p>\n
