When Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ray John arrived at the St. John’s Magistrates Court\u00a0Wednesday<\/span><\/span>\u00a0he was told his criminal case would have to be adjourned.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This was because Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh, who is presiding over the matter, is said to be unwell.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
John was suspended from the police force in April after investigators began a probe into an alleged racket involving bio-pages of the Antigua and Barbuda passport.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The following month, the 47-year-old officer and his 63-year-old mother, Yvonne Nickie were slapped with a joint charge of Conspiracy to Forge Antigua and Barbuda passports.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
John was further charged with multiple counts of Larceny and Receiving in relation to Multi-Layered Infilling Sheets and a Multi-Layered Infilling patch belonging to the Antigua and Barbuda Passport Office.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The suspended officer and his mother were both granted bail to the tune of $50,000 at their first court appearance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
They are due back in court on\u00a0October 24<\/span><\/span>.<\/div>\n
