This effort is part of the ‘Addressing the Water-Energy Nexus in Agriculture’ project, under the Mexico-CARICOM-FAO Initiative known as the Resilient Caribbean Initiative.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to combat water scarcity challenges and enhance agricultural production in the face of climate change impacts.<\/p>

Antigua and Barbuda, like other Caribbean countries, is facing water scarcity issues due to climate change. Rising sea levels and changing rainfall patterns have reduced freshwater availability and quality, affecting agricultural production.<\/p>

The project, funded by the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) and Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), supports Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Caribbean region.<\/p>\n

The provision of 1000-gallon water tanks offers immediate relief to 12 farmers in Antigua and Barbuda, helping them overcome water scarcity challenges and improve agricultural output.<\/p>

The FAO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Barbuda Council, facilitated the distribution of the tanks.<\/p>\n
