A tropical wave is about to emerge off the west coast of Africa into the tropical Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that’s more than 4,000 miles from the East Coast of the U.S., so there’s a long way to go before we have to worry about anything.<\/p>

The National Hurricane Center, in a\u00a0forecast released Thursday morning, said “a tropical wave is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa later today and early Friday.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

“Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this system while it moves generally westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic during the early to middle part of next week.”<\/p>\n

Could it become Tropical Storm Bret?<\/h2>\n

Respected hurricane forecaster\u00a0Phil Klotzbach of Colorado State University\u00a0tweeted Thursday morning that there is “some model support for tropical cyclone development in tropical Atlantic (S of 20\u00b0N and E of 60\u00b0W).”<\/p>

Tropical development is rare this time of year in that part of the Atlantic, forecasters said.<\/p>\n
