The group initiated the picket on May 30, and as of June 8, they have completed eight days, with nine more days remaining.<\/p>\n

Attorney Leon Chaku Symister emphasizes the importance of not forgetting the 17 individuals who perished at sea.<\/p>

The United Progressive Party (UPP) members will stand in solidarity with the Concerned Citizens during the picket, followed by further action.<\/p>

Symister expresses concerns regarding the need for a public inquiry into the African migrant-smuggling case and the Antigua Airways issue.<\/p>

He questions the authority of the Cabinet and Parliament to conduct an impartial investigation involving the Executive branch. According to Symister, Section 80 of the Constitution grants the governor-general the ability to exercise discretion, despite the advice of the Cabinet.<\/p>\n

Symister highlights the legal opinions received by Sir Rodney Williams, the governor-general, which failed to address Section 80(1)(a) of the Constitution.<\/p>

In early May, the UPP organized a Black March and Candlelight Vigil to commemorate the African lives lost at sea while attempting to reach a US port from Antigua.<\/p>\n

Symister indicates the possibility of organizing another march, with the final destination being Government House.<\/p>\n

Symister concludes by urging the people to take a stand against such behavior, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing this matter.<\/p>\n
