The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) confirmed today that it is in the process of doing an assessment on possible damage resulting for heavy rains last night.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe are still collecting information from the District Disaster Coordinators,\u201d NODS said in an email to Antigua News Room (ANR).<\/p>\n

Climatologist Dale Destin said Up to 4 inches of rain fell across parts of Antigua and up to 6 inches over Barbuda yesterday.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

NODS said, \u00a0\u201cso far we have not received any reports of significant damage to properties or injuries to persons.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

It confirmed however, that there was flooding in a number of communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has been minimal damage to drains and roads and a number of vehicles running into difficulties,\u201d the email said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The disaster office advised members of the public to pay attention to the weather updates and be \u201cextremely cautious\u201d when traveling.<\/p>\n

NODS promised an update once the process of collecting information is completed.\"\"<\/p>

The Met Office says lingering moisture and instability associated with an active mid to upper level trough, coupled with light SE’ly winds, daytime heating and available low level moisture will keep the chances for shower activity across the area relatively high today, gradually diminishing into tonight.<\/p>

Residents can expect mostly cloudy skies today with a good chance of some late morning to afternoon shower and a slight chance of an isolated afternoon thunderstorm developing, becoming partly cloudy in general tonight with a slight chance of a brief passing overnight shower.<\/p>\n
