Government is poised to acquire the Eastern Caribbean Cancer Centre with a resolution passed by both houses of parliament. Last week, the House of Representatives approved the resolution, and on Thursday, the Senate also passed it, although some opposition members raised concerns about the government’s actions.<\/p>

Senator Samantha Marshall, who presented the resolution in the Upper House, emphasized that the government’s aim was to acquire the center to save lives, as it provided essential care for cancer patients.<\/p>\n

She highlighted that the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre is part of the Cancer Centre’s shareholding.<\/p>

Marshall acknowledged the importance of this matter, particularly for individuals with limited or no means to seek medical treatment overseas.<\/p>

During the debate, several opposition members questioned the decision to acquire the project and raised doubts about whether the government had made every effort to reach an agreement with Dr. Browne.<\/p>

When the time came to vote on the resolution, Senator Marshall called for a division, requiring each senator to indicate their vote individually.<\/p>\n
