I have learned of the tragedy that occurred in Guyana and of the loss of life of 19 young
\nstudents in a fire that engulfed their sleeping quarters.<\/p>\n

Please accept my deepest sympathy on behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The heartbreak which their parents are suffering surely impel us all to act to bring calm and peace to those who grieve.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

My Government has also learned of the injured students whom the Guyanese authorities
\nwish to fly out to Barbados, in order to provide them specialist medical treatment.<\/p>\n

A burn unit in Barbados is to be put to use to the benefit of these children, the world has learned.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

I have authorized the use of the LIAT AT that is being used for commercial purposes to
\nimmediately proceed to Guyana, in order to airlift those injured students and their medical
\npersonnel to Barbados. Working in collaboration with the Court-appointed administrator, I have indicated that all costs are to be borne by Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured students and express the sympathies of the
\npeople of Antigua and Barbuda for this immense tragedy. I also take this opportunity to reiterate<\/p>
