ASP Elson Quammie, the head of the Traffic Department, has urged for the proper development and repair of secondary roads across the island to ease congestion on major thoroughfares and reduce the high incidence of traffic collisions.<\/p>

On May 5, there were 11 accidents, six of which were rear-end collisions caused by inattentive driving.<\/p>\n

While Quammie acknowledges the island’s major roads are congested due to the high volume of vehicles, he believes developing and marking secondary roads with “No Parking” and “No Stopping” signs, and converting some streets into one-way traffic, will provide better access to the by-roads and secondary roads.<\/p>

However, Quammie admits that implementing such changes will take time due to a lack of resources. He is appealing to drivers to remain vigilant on the road and avoid distractions to prevent collisions.<\/p>
