As intrepid Team Antigua Island Girls (TAIG) prepares for their sophomore row in the Pacific Challenge, former CNN news anchor, Tony Harris, is lending a helping hand to assist the team in sharing the exciting story about their ocean voyage.<\/p>

Harris, a journalist, film maker, producer and current host of \u201cThe Proof is Out There,\u201d on the History Channel, is on island to cover Sailing Week.<\/p>\n

He met with the Female Row Team to learn more about their upcoming adventure and to discuss opportunities for media exposure throughout the USA.<\/p>

The Pacific Challenge, in its inaugural year, covers 2,800 nautical miles from Monterey, California to Kauai, Hawaii.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Team Antigua Island Girls comprises four athletes and a skipper — Elvira Bell, Christal Clashing, Samara Emmanuel, and Kevinia Francis.<\/p>\n

The team rowed their way into the history books when they became the first all-female Caribbean team to complete the grueling Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge and the first all-black team to row across the Atlantic in 2019.<\/p>

\u201cI am fascinated by the courage displayed by these amazing women, and I believe that they have a unique story to tell as ambassadors of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

This is my fifth trip here and I always enjoy meeting the people and sharing in the local experiences.<\/p>

On every trip, I discover something new that these beautiful islands have to offer, and the sailing culture is definitely one of those attractions that distinguishes these twin islands,” said Tony Harris.<\/p>

TAIG is \u201cback on the row again\u201d to raise funds for their charity, Cottage of Hope. This non-profit organization founded in 2009, houses and\/or serves girls who have been abused, neglected or orphaned. The team is also seeking financial support to cover the costs of the boat, safety fixtures, mandatory gear, food, towing, shipping, airfare and accommodations. training and more.<\/p>\n

A Go Fund Me Page <\/em>www.gofundme.com\/f\/team-antigua-island-girlsback-on-the-row-again<\/a> has been set up to assist Team Antigua Island Girls (TAIG) as they hit the seas again for another challenge. They will be among 20 participating teams in the inaugural Pacific Challenge.<\/p>\n
