The St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard (SKNCG) rescued a group of Cameroon nationals on March 28, 2023, after their boat capsized at sea.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The rescued individuals were transported to St. Kitts where they were provided with medical and psychological care.<\/p>\n

They were then detained at a government facility while awaiting repatriation to Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

However, on April 26, 2023, the Ministry of National Security informed the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis of a developing situation concerning the African detainees.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Nine of the fourteen Cameroon nationals had escaped from the detention facility on St. Kitts.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement officials have been working to locate the escaped detainees, and as of the morning of April 27th, four have been found. Five are still at large, and the search for them continues.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Ministry of National Security has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any sightings of the escaped detainees to the authorities immediately.<\/p>\n

The Ministry has also assured the public that every effort is being made to locate the missing individuals and that their safety is of utmost importance.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The incident has raised concerns about the security of the detention facility and the need for increased measures to prevent future escapes.<\/p>

The Ministry of National Security has stated that it is reviewing its protocols and procedures to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.<\/p>\n
