The Cancer Centre Eastern Caribbean Ltd. is set to close its doors on April 30, with the Antiguan Government promising to find investors to purchase the facility. This move has led to concerns that the Browne Administration may be planning to sell off the country.<\/p>\n

In a recent parliamentary session, Minister of Health Sir Molwyn Joseph revealed that the Government had received official correspondence from the centre’s owner, indicating the investor’s intention to close the facility due to financial constraints.<\/p>

Franz deFreitas, the United Progressive Party caretaker for St. John’s City South, has criticized the Administration for its incompetence in managing the country’s affairs. He also expressed concern about the closure’s impact on existing patients, questioning whether the public hospital could be next in line to be sold.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

While the Government has promised to assist patients in seeking treatment overseas, deFreitas has raised concerns about the financial burden on patients, who will have to cover the costs of airline tickets and accommodations.<\/p>\n

Given the challenges facing residents in need of cancer care, deFreitas is calling for Sir Molwyn’s resignation for his failure to manage and maintain a reliable healthcare system.<\/p>
